A simple template for your morning journaling

Hello! As I talk about it my post on journaling for manifesting your dream life, I’m an avid journaler. I’ve been keeping a journal since I was 8 years old, and it’s become a pillar of my life. I do it because it’s comforting, stress-relieving, fun, and a good way to see how I’ve grown and changed as a person. These past few months, I started following a very simple template for my morning pages. I think it’s the perfect template because it allows me to jot just a few things down, if that’s all I have time for, but it’s not so structured that I can’t sit for 45 minutes and flesh out my thoughts.

Morning pages:

Here is where I write a paragraph about whatever’s on the forefront of my mind. Maybe I just had a crazy dream, or I watched a really good movie before falling asleep, or I’m really stressed about the day ahead of me. This is the space to unload that.

Today I am grateful for…

  1. Here I express gratitude for three things. It can be anything.
  2. Sometimes it’s a person, and I write about what they’ve done recently that makes me feel extra grateful for them.
  3. Other times it’s an experience that’s just happened. If I feel like it, I can write out the whole story so I can look back on it in the future.

Today my soul needs…

  1. Here I plan out three things that will be my priorities for the day.
  2. It helps me structure my day by setting a tone for what needs to be done.
  3. It can be rest, checking things off a to-do list, going to the gym, cooking a nice meal, etc. The options are endless and can be as specific or as broad as I wish.

And that’s the template! Any morning that I make time for journaling, this is the process I follow.

Happy journaling!
